No current NCT?

Sell a Car Without an NCT in Ireland

Yes, we buy suitable cars without a current NCT. Send the registration, mileage and condition for a free offer, without booking a test just to request a price.

An expired NCT does not automatically rule your car out

You may be changing cars, selling a second vehicle or deciding whether to spend money on one you no longer need. We can consider the car in its present condition, including when its NCT has expired.

Our usual buying range is 2013 onwards and below 160,000 km. Older classic, unusual or high-value cars can be considered individually. There is no minimum car value, but our vehicle and engine exclusions still apply.

How we value a car with no NCT

Eoghan looks at the exact model, year, mileage, service history and condition. An expired certificate tells us that the current test is missing; it does not tell us which repairs, if any, the car needs. Please describe anything you already know about the brakes, tyres, bodywork or warning lights.

There is no fixed deduction that suits every car without an NCT. The offer depends on the vehicle and the work we expect it to need. The final purchase price is confirmed after inspection and history checks.

Request a price before deciding on repairs

You do not need to pay for a test, a garage diagnosis or professional photographs to get an initial valuation from us. If you already have a repair estimate or previous test result, a short summary can help. Photos are optional.

Compare an offer for the car as it stands with the cost and time involved in preparing it for another buyer. Spending money on repairs does not guarantee that a sale price will increase by the same amount.

Expired NCT or failed NCT? Tell us which applies

If the car has already failed, choose that option in the form and describe the main failure items. We consider NCT failures case by case. You do not have to upload the failure sheet to request a price.

Please tell us about the NCT status and any safety issues before arranging an inspection. An offer from us does not make a vehicle roadworthy or authorise driving it to an appointment. A vehicle with a dangerous defect must not be driven.

Common questions

Do I have to renew the NCT before asking for an offer?

No. We can assess a suitable car without a current NCT. Describe its present condition so the initial offer reflects the car you are selling.

Do you buy every car without an NCT?

No. Our usual age and mileage guidelines, engine exclusions and vehicle-history checks still apply. We do not buy scrap vehicles or insurance write-offs.

Can I ask for a price from outside Leinster?

Yes. We can price suitable cars anywhere in Ireland. Viewings outside Dublin may be possible by agreement; contact us to discuss the location and any NCT or safety issues. Collection is free throughout Leinster after the purchase is agreed.
